El Toro Bowl website officially unveiled
Yuma, Arizona – August 31, 2011 – Arizona Western College, the Caballeros de Yuma and the Matador Athletic Association are proud to announce that the official website of the El Toro Bowl has been unveiled. The announcement comes just a little over three months before the teams take the field at Veterans Memorial Stadium for the December 3rd football game, which is a renewal of the bowl that was held in Yuma from 1968 through 1972, and hosted a pair of national championship games during that time.
After much anticipation, www.eltorobowl.com has officially become public, and will serve as the main hub of information for the bowl game and its events. Fans can log on to the site 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for information about everything related to the bowl, including the schedule of events for El Toro Bowl Week; the already-large and growing list of sponsors for this year’s event; and especially for those fans coming to Yuma for the first time in a while (or ever), a page full of links to information about Yuma and the bowl partners. It also includes pages devoted to the impending induction of the 1972 NJCAA National Champions, the AWC Football team, and its head coach, Ray Butcher, at the AWC/NJCAA Hall of Fame Banquet. The banquet will be held at the Schoening Conference Center at the AWC College Community Center (also known as the ‘3C’) on the main campus on Wednesday, November 30th, and will officially kick off El Toro Bowl Week.
The site will also provide fans with information about tickets to the game, which will be held on Saturday afternoon, December 3rd, at 2:30PM at ‘The Vet’, which is just ¼ mile west of the AWC campus on 24th Street near Araby Road in Yuma. Proceeds from the bowl game and its related events will benefit several areas, including scholarships at Arizona Western College, as well as allow the Caballeros de Yuma to continue to provide and attract events that positively impact the quality of life in the Yuma community.

I WAS A MEMBER OF COACH BUTCHER 1968 TEAM, I WIIL BE THERE WITH SOME OTHER FORMER PLAYERS OF THAT TIMME, WE ALSO PLAYED IN THE BOWL GAME.
I am proud to have played for Ray Butcher at College of the Desert. More than football he taught us discipline and character. I wish him the very best. He is what a coaching is all about…being a mentor.
