AWC’s Young Gets NJCAA Honor
Colorado Springs, CO (September 21, 2011) – Arizona Western College’s Chris Young has been selected as the NJCAA Football Defensive Player of the Week for games September 15th through the 17th. Young is the first Matador to win the NJCAA Defensive POW Award since Matador linebacker Zach Holmes accomplished the feat in September of 2009.

CHRIS YOUNG Chris Young (6’ 1” / 218 lbs.) put six on the scoreboard for the No. 3 Matadors after recovering a fumble in the end zone. The sophomore also intercepted a pass in Arizona Western’s 55-8 blowout of Phoenix College (Ariz.). Young also recorded 10 tackles, five for a loss, and two sacks in the victory. The Matadors and Young head to No. 17 Scottsdale CC (Ariz.) for a clash of unbeatens in the Western States Football League.
