Huge semi-final comeback puts Scottsdale in volleyball title match

Down two sets to none in its semi-final match against Coffeyville (Kan.), Scottsdale rallied for a thrilling victory and will play for the NJCAA Division II Volleyball national championship Saturday after knocking off second-seeded Coffeyville (Kan.), 3-2 Friday at the Charleston, W.Va., Civic Center. The set scores were 21-25, 27-29, 25-22, 25-23, 15-10.

  The Artichokes will face top-seeded, and #1-ranked Parkland (Ill.) which eliminated #12 seeded Bismarck St. (N.D.), 3-0.

  SCC's Region I Player of the Year Jazmyn Wheeler had 22 kills to lead the way. Yazmina Gonzalez added 15 and Jocelyn Teichman had ten. Mikaya Sparks contributed 24 digs, Catie Speas had 25 assists and Kylie Johnson had nine total blocks.

  The win was the 25th in a row for Scottsdale which is now 28-4. Parkland, a perennial national power, is 52-2. The match will take place at 3:30 p.m. Arizona time and will be streamed at the paid link listed below.
