Men's Basketball

Division I– Stephen Byard – Cochise – In three games the freshman from Atlantic City, N.J., and Atlantic City H.S., averaged 21.0 points and 9.0 rebounds as the Apaches won three times. He also had five blocks, four assists and three steals.

Division II– Unisa Turay – Scottsdale – In three games he averaged 27.3 points and 7.2 rebounds as well as 5.7 assists. The freshman from Arizona Compass Prep and Phoenix, AZ, also had seven steals and went 32-50 (.640) from the floor.

Women's Basketball

Division I – Denali Hughes – Central Arizona - The freshman from Aurora, Colo., and Vista Peak Prep, averaged 19.3 points and 9.7 rebounds in three CAC wins. She also had four steals, two assists and a block and went 18-32 (.563) from the field.

Division II - Halle Payne - Scottsdale – In winning her second straight weekly award the freshman from Bloomfield, N.M., and Bloomfield H.S., 18.5 points and 5.5 rebounds along with nine assists and six steals. In addition she shot .652 (15-23).
