The ACCAC has announced the Div. I and II baseball and softball players of the week for 2/26 - 3/4.
Baseball
Div. I Pitcher - Anthony Imhoff - Pima - The sophomore from Queen Creek allowed only two hits in seven innings pitched and had five strikeouts as the Aztecs defeated Eastern Arizona, 1-0.
Div. I Position Player - Gage Mestas - Pima - The sophomore from Durango, CO, had nine hits, five RBIs, and scored three runs in four games last week. The Aztecs went 3-1 against South Mountain and Eastern Arizona.
Div. II Pitcher - Liam O'Brien - Paradise Valley - The sophomore from Tucson allowed just two hits and had six strikeouts in six innings pitched. O'Brien earned the win as the Pumas defeated Phoenix College, 14-0.
Div. II Position Player - Cole Williams - Paradise Valley - The sophomore from Mount Vernon, WA, had eight hits, seven RBIs, and scored eight runs in 11 at-bats last week. The Pumas won all three games that Willaims played in.
Softball
Div. I Pitcher - Ariana "Gigi" Garcia - Arizona Western - The freshman from Marana had nine hits, seven RBIs, and three home runs, along with scoring five runs in 15 at-bats last week. The lady Matadors went 3-1 in four games against Pima and Glendale.
Div. I Position Player - Jessica Mercado - Central Arizona - The sophomore from Casa Grande allowed just 11 hits and four runs in 14 innings pitched, along with having 19 strikeouts. She went 2-0 as the starting pitcher last week. This is Mercado's second POTW honor this season.
