Central Arizona unleashes offense in taking West District title

  Central Arizona broke out the offense, scoring 50 runs in three games, ending with a 15-8 victory over Yavapai, in the West District championship game Saturday.

  The win advances the Vaqueros to the NJCAA Division I baseball tournament beginning May 29 in Grand Junction, Colo.

  CAC scored 11 runs in the first four innings Saturday and used the long-ball extensively. Central hit four home runs, giving them a total of 16 in the three games. Going deep for CAC Saturday were Dayton Dooney, Dusty Garcia, Jake Jarvis and Seth Beckstead. Beckstead collected five RBIs during the game.

  CAC will enter the national event with a 48-7 record and ranked No. 7 in the nation.
