Central Arizona was knocked into the loser's bracket at the NJCAA Division I Baseball World Series with a 7-4 defeat at the hands of third-seeded San Jacinto-North Tuesday. The Vaqueros will now play No. 5-seed Cowley Wednesday at about 4 p.m. Arizona time. The tournament is being played in Grand Junction, Colo.
San Jacinto used scores in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings to pull out the victory. CAC held a 4-3 lead going into the bottom of the fifth.
Dylan Dooney led the Central offense with three hits, including two doubles and an RBI. Preston Godfrey hit a solo home run.
Phoenix tied the game with a three-run ninth inning, but then saw Madison walk off with a 9-8 win that eliminated the Bears at the NJCAA Division II Baseball Championship Tuesday. The double elimination tournament is being played at Enid, Okla.
PC got a two-run double from Carter Paine and then Jarron Wilcox tied the game with another double, plating Paine. But then the Wolfpack ended Phoenix' run with an RBI base hit from Brady Jurgella.
