Rolling through the tournament unbeaten, Phoenix won is second consecutive NJCAA Division II softball national championship Sunday with a 13-5 victory over fourth-seeded Murray State.
The Bears thus finish with a 52-6 record and their 11th overall title.
PC quickly built a 4-0 lead after two innings and coasted to the win, putting the game away with nine runs in the final two innings.
Ali Ashner led the offense, going 4-5, including a home run and knocking in two. Kamryn Moctezuma had three hits and drove in three. In addition, Jenna Huey had two hits with a homer and three RBIs and Aubrey Chavez drove home four with her two hits which included a home run.
