Led by Jalen Brown's 27 points, Eastern Arizona (26-6) captured the men's Region I, Division I basketball championship with a 93-73 victory over Arizona Western (18-14) Monday in Thatcher, AZ.
The Gila Monsters will now meet Salt Lake in the District playoff Saturday for the right to move on to the NJCAA National Championship in Hutchinson, Kan.
Brown led five EAC players in double figures. Anthony Anderson scored 16 points, Rayshon Howard 14, Collin Kelley had 13, and Nathaniel Pollard, Jr., ten with 12 rebounds.
The Monsters hit 11 of 26 three-pointers and won the rebounding battle, 45-37.
AZW was paced by Jordan Green with 19 points. Pharoh Allah recorded a double-double with 16 points and 11 boards and Daniel Kiely scored 12.
