The ACCAC returned to action after a ten-month hiatus caused by COVID-19 with a bang as Arizona Western's men's basketball team edged Snow, 86-80, on Jan. 20.
The Matadors rallied from a 47-28 halftime deficit with a 58-point second half. AZW didn't lead until the final three minutes but pulled away for the six-point win.
Najeb Muhamed paced Western with 22 points, while Evan Butts added 20 In addition, Mojus Mojus added 15 and Leo Gerardo came off the bench to contribute 13.
Snow was featured in the other two first-weekend games.
The Badgers travelled to Douglas two days later and defeated Cochise, 88-70. The Apaches got 18 points from Jonathan Garcia and 13 from Stephen Byard.
Snow then made its way to Coolidge and topped Central Arizona, 96-72. CAC was led by Brenton Woods who scored 17 and Jalen Menzies with 16.
