Ivan Mendez, of GateWay, was chosen as Player of the Week and Jair Garcia, of Phoenix, was selected as Goalkeeper of the Week, for the week of Sept. 2-8.

  Mendez, a 5-8 sophomore from Maricopa, AZ, and Maricopa H.S., had all three goals in a 3-0 loss to Arizona Western as the Geckos  went 0-2 for the week, also falling to Pima, 5-0.

  Garcia, a freshman from Phoenix' Brophy H.S., made four saves as the Bears blanked Chandler-Gilbert, 3-0.
