After the first two weeks of ACCAC softball action four teams remain unbeaten in league play, with one still not having a loss in any game.
Phoenix (11-0, 6-0) snared two conference wins Saturday over Chandler-Gilbert, 8-0(5) and 8-1. In the opener, Sydnee Smith went 2-3 with four RBIs including a double and a home run. Brianna Hardy pitched a two-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts. In the second game Veronica Chavez collected three hits and Nicole Vella hit a two-run homer. Kalea Smith allowed just three hits and one unearned run.
Central Arizona (10-5, 4-0) swept Paradise Valley 10-6, 10-5 (5). Five different players collected a pair of hits each for CAC in game one, while Thalia Higuera and Haily Galvez each had two for PVCC. In game two Nicole Ley went 3-4 with a homer and three RBIs for the Vaqueras, with Sarah Norton tossing a two-hit shutout. CAC has won seven straight.
Glendale (9-1, 4-0) has also won seven in a row after taking down Scottsdale, 11-1 and 16-5, both in six innings. In the opener, Bibiana Acosta had a 4-4 game for GCC with four RBIs including a homer. Kendyl Terry went 3-4. For SCC, Nicole Osteen went 2-3. In the nightcap Josette Valdez had the big game at the plate for the Gauchos, going 3-3 and driving in four with a double and home run. Taylor Halterman had a pair of hits for the Artichokes and Osteen homered.
Arizona Western (9-1, 4-0) has won nine consecutive games after a 3-1, 4-2 sweep of Yavapai. Nylze Salazar had a total of three hits and two RBIs for AZW. Including a homer in the opener.
