Central Arizona's Denali Hughes is the ACCAC Division I Player of the Week for the period from Dec. 2-8 and Sierra Mich'l, of Pima, is the honoree in Division II.
Hughes' a 5-11 freshman from Aurora, Colo., and Vista Prep, Averaged 23.5 points per game with 24 against Pima and 23 in a game with Tohono O'odham. She connected on 17 of 32 shots from the floor (.531) and also had 11 rebounds in each game. In addition, she had two steals in each contest. She is the fourth different CAC player to win a weekly honor so far this year.
Mich'l took her second weekly award with a 16.0 scoring mark in two games, including a 19-point performance in a win over Scottsdale. She shot .520 (13-25) from the field. The 6-1 freshman from Desert Oasis H.S., in Las Vegas, Nev., had 18 rebounds in the Scottsdale game to average 13.5 for the week. She chipped in with four blocks, two steals and two assists in the two contests.
