Central Arizona continues to lead ACCAC women's basketball with a 6-0 record with Mesa close behind at 5-1, as the league breaks for the holidays.
The Vaqueras, who are 10-1 overall, topped South Mountain, 93-65, with two players scoring over 30 points. Makayla Pippin had 32 and Ayanna Clark 31.
Mesa (8-4, 5-1) picked up a road win over Cochise, 57-49, with Zyan Smith scoring 13 and Jacey Salabiye 12. The Apaches are 8-3, 3-3.
Four other teams have 4-2 conference marks entering the break.
Eastern Arizona (11-3, 4-2) picked up a conference win over Glendale, 70-40, and a non-league victory against Park, 63-60. In the GCC contest, Susi Namoa was the top scorer with 17 points while Jalen Long added 13. Against Park, Long, Nyeniea John and Sima Tapasa all scored 12.
Pima (7-3, 4-2) took down both Arizona Western,72-67, and Tohono O'odham, 81-74. However, no statistics were reported.
Chandler-Gilbert (7-4, 4-2) fell to Arizona Western, 75-47 and Phoenix (4-2, 4-6) defeated Scottsdale, 72-46.
Some conference teams will have scattered action until league play begins again the weekend of Jan. 3-4.
