Makayla Pippin, of Central Arizona, and Pima's Hallie Lawson, are the ACCAC women's basketball Players of the Week in Divisions I and II respectively for the week of Dec. 9-15.
For Pippin it is her third weekly selection. The 6-2 sophomore from National Christian H.S., in Indianapolis, Ind., poured in 32 points in a 93-65 win over South Mountain. She hit 12 of 20 shots from the floor, including five of eight three-pointers. For good measure she added 15 rebounds, four assists, three blocked shots and two steals.
Lawson, a 6-2 sophomore from Gilbert, AZ, and Campo Verde H.S., averaged 16.0 points in a pair of wins for the Aztecs over Arizona Western and Tohono O'odham. She connected on 15 of 26 shots from the floor (.577) and added a total of 13 rebounds, four assists and a steal. Her top game for the week was a 20-point effort against TOCC.
