Thatcher, AZ - The Eastern Arizona Gila Monsters women's basketball team defeated the Cochise Apaches Friday night, 91-83, to win the NJCAA Region I, Division I title.

With the win, EAC earns an automatic bid to the NJCAA Div. I National Tournament in Lubbock, TX, from March 22-27.

Despite the loss, Cochise still earned an at-large bid for the national tournament as the 23rd seed. The Apaches will play against the No. 10 seed Collin (TX) Cougars on Wednesday, March 22nd, at 4:00 PM CT.

EAC will be the No. 12 seed and will play against the No. 21 seed North Dakota SCS Wildcats on Wednesday the 22nd at 8:00 PM CT.
