D1 Player of the Week: Karen Asprilla - Sophomore Middle Blocker - Arizona Western

AWC went 5-0 last week led by Asprilla who totaled 47 kills (9.4 per game) and 17 blocks (3.6 per game) on the week. She also had 16 digs and 3 aces.

AWC coach Lorayne Chandler on Asprilla, "Karen has started off the season extremely well. As a sophomore and a captain, she has been a pillar for our team. Her volleyball IQ surpasses many as she does a great job of seeing the game from a technical point of view."

D2 Player of the Week: Tara Melton - Sophomore Middle Blocker - Glendale

Melton wins for the second week in a row. She guided GCC to a 5-0 record last week. Melton totaled 71 kills and 27 digs on the week.

GCC coach Lisa Stuck on Melton, "Tara had a dominating week hitting .420 average in 5 matches. She was the most efficient hitter for our team over the course of the SCC tournament and against CGCC in our conference match last Wed. She had only 11 hitting errors in 5 matches (19 sets total). "
